Girinon and Flexing Guns N Town Dominate NRHA European Derby Open Qualifier

Lyon, October 31 – The second day of competition at Equita Lyon, France, hosted the $182,361-Added NRHA European Derby Open Qualifier. A total of 124 horses entered across four levels competed for a place in the Finals set for Saturday, November 2.

French rider Arnaud Girinon, last to enter the Oklahoma Arena, topped the $82,612-Added Level (L) 4 Open Qualifier with a 222.5 score riding Anna Scheiflinger’s owned and nominated 5-year-old stallion, Flexing Guns N Town (NRHA Three Million Dollar Sire Hollywoodstinseltown x Shesa Fashion Gun). The duo also claimed the $1,250-Added American Paint Horse Association (APHA) Chrome Cash Incentive L4 Open Derby qualifier.

In the $47,222-Added L3 and $34,565-Added L2 divisions, Germany’s Nina Lill performed to a 222 on Jewel Dream (NRHA Twelve Million Dollar Sire Magnum Chic Dream x GR Hug A Jewel), a 5-year-old mare owned by Martin Bachmann and nominated by Edoardo Bernardelli.

Denmark’s Patrick Capobianco scored a 215.5 on Voodoo Majestic Gun (NRHA Four Million Dollar Sire Shiners Voodoo Dr x Gunna Be Majestic), a 7-year-old gelding owned by Cecilie Lyndrup and nominated by Quarter Dream SRL, to lead the $17,961-Added L1.

Friday’s Schedule

The $495-Added LL Technologie NRHA Grand Prix Limited Open — counting 35 entries — will kick off the day, followed by the ELEMENTA NRHA European Derby Finals. Here, 55 finalists will compete for the prestigious European titles across four levels and the Youth Non Pro division. Winners of the $1,250-Added APHA Chrome Cash Incentive L4 Non Pro Derby will also be determined.

Tickets are now available for the NRHA European Derby Open Finals and the highly anticipated The Run For A Million 2025 Million Dollar Championship Qualifier on Saturday, November 2.
